This article will focus on the application field and working principles of the SIT8008BIU8-25S, which is a multi-mode oscillator.

SIT8008BIU8-25S is a low-frequency programmable oscillator with a frequency range of 12.000 Hz to 25.000 MHz, providing 72% and 75% sine wave stability as standard. It also offers 15 different output waveforms, such as Sine, Square, Triangle and TTL, allowing it to be used in various applications. Additionally, it has a high performance temperature stability to 0.1ppm/°C max and high accuracy output frequency stability to +/-25PPM.

The main features of the SIT8008BIU8-25S are that it offers high frequency stability, excellent temperature behavior and a wide range of output frequencies. Therefore, it can be widely used in different unrelated PLL circuits, like high stability frequency synthesis, optical application, mobile radio, GPS IC and other electronics, telecommunications, instrumentation and test and measurement applications.

The working principle of the SIT8008BIU8-25S is based on an internal quartz resonator. The resonator is calibrated to 25MHz oscillation frequency, with an internal load capacitance of about 30pF. This mode of operation is similar to an Overtone Clock Oscillator. The calibration is done through the EEPROM content, which is programmed with the correct frequency and temperature coefficients, allowing the unit to maintain great frequency stability and accuracy.

The SIT8008BIU8-25S also features an on-board reference oscillator, which is calibrated to 25MHz, to generate an accurate output frequency. The reference frequency provided can be used to synchronize the system, or to monitor the output frequency. It has an EMI filter at the output pin to reduce the radiation and generate an emission compliant signal.
