Working Principle

The SIT8009BIE11-18E Programmable Oscillators uses a quartz crystal oscillator with CMOS BiCMOS chips to generate a stable output frequency within a desired range. The working principle of the device is based on digital frequency synthesis technique, where frequencies up to 18MHz can be obtained by digital division of the reference frequency between 4MHz and 20MHz. The quartz crystal oscillator is tuned to reference frequency, while an on-chip programmable frequency divider provides the desired output frequency using a pair of Port pins. These Port pins allow a user to program the output frequency of the oscillator.

The SIT8009BIE11-18E also features an on-chip voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) which is used to provide tight control of the output frequency. Using the VCO, users can fine-tune the output frequency over a wider range by varying the frequency control voltage. It is also equipped with output enable/disable pins to turn the oscillator off or on when needed.
