Oscillators

Oscillators are an integral part of any electronic system. In their simplest form, they are used to generate a regularly repeating waveform for purposes such as to create a periodic signal for digital logic, provide an audible or visible indication of a specific state in a system, or provide a clock signal that synchronizes all of the other components in the system. In all of these cases, an oscillator provides an output that is highly predictable and consistent when compared to the randomness of the environment in which it operates. One such oscillator is the SIT8918AE-13-33N-25.000000G, which is a low jitter clock oscillator with frequency range from 0.2MHz up to 100MHz and an input voltage of 1.2V. It is especially suitable for high-speed synchronization applications, such as in clock and data networks, audio systems and synchronous data transmissions over long distances.The SIT8918AE-13-33N-25.000000G is composed of two sections: a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and a phase detector. The VCO couples a voltage input to a corresponding frequency output. The phase detector is then used to compare the signal frequency with a frequency set by an external signal. A feedback loop is then established in order to keep the generated signal in synchronization with the external signal, thus maintaining a specified frequency within a tight tolerance range.
