Programmable oscillators are electronic components that can be used to generate fixed-frequency oscillations. They are essential for the design and development of many applications such as frequency synthesis, voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) control, phase-locked loop (PLL) operation, signal processing and for testing purposes. SIT9002AI-23N25DK is a programmable oscillator specifically designed for these applications. It is a high performance, low cost oscillator that is optimized for RF and microwave applications.

The SIT9002AI-23N25DK is a Six-Terminal CMOS Programmable Oscillator which implements a VCO with a fixed frequency range of 23.8-25.0GHz. The fixed frequency range can be adjusted in 25MHz intervals and is further adjustable by computer controlled programming. The device is designed to provide the flexibility of software controlled frequency adjustments, while providing a high degree of accuracy in frequency tuning. It is also designed to minimize the effect of process variations on frequency accuracy, as a result it has very stable operating parameters. In addition, the low phase noise and fast switching speeds make it ideal for microwave applications.

The programmable oscillator consists of an externally adjustable voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and a control circuit that controls the oscillator frequency. The circuit is controlled by two external port pins (mode and program) which can be used to control the oscillator frequency. The external port pins are connected to an on-chip voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) whose frequency is thereby modulated. The VCO frequency is controlled by a wide variety of user-selectable programming commands that can be written to its memory locations.

The SIT9002AI-23N25DK has a maximum frequency range of 23.8-25.0 GHz with adjustable frequency increments of 25MHz. The device is equipped with a high-speed serial communication port for programming, which allows for low power consumption, high speed data transfer and high stability frequency tuning. The programming commands allow for adjustment of frequency, amplitude, phase and output power. In addition, the device supports two user-selectable modulation schemes to control the output frequency, namely Pulse Modulation (PM) and Phase Modulation (PM).
