Introduction Programmable oscillators are a type of electronic devices which contain an oscillator circuit with capabilities for reprogramming its oscillation frequency. They are commonplace in applications such as frequency synthesizers, computer interconnects, timing devices, and analog and digital clocks. This article will focus on the SIT9005ACA2D-18DO programmable oscillator, a newly designed chip feature which provides a revolutionary new way of introducing advanced frequency synthesis and timing control capabilities into applications. SIT9005ACA2D-18DO Programmable Oscillator The SIT9005ACA2D-18DO Programmable Oscillator is a versatile and cost-effective device for frequency synthesis and timing applications. The chip controlled by programming pin/input voltage from either 0.5V to 4V dc voltage source. It provide a dual output clock signal up to 15.000MHz which it can be programmed from 0.05MHz to 50MHz by a 8-bit serial logical instruction.Application field:The SIT9005ACA2D-18DO programmable oscillator applications mainly focus on the fields of computer interconnects, timing devices, frequency synthesis and analog and digital clocks. The chip is well-suited for applications where exact timing and frequency control is required, such as:• Signaling and communication applications• Consumer audio and video applications• Automotive and industrial systems• Test instrumentation systems• Process control• Medical devices• Communication systems• Security systemsWorking Principle:The SIT9005ACA2D-18DO Programmable Oscillator operates on a programmable eight-bit logic instruction embedded within the chip that controls the output frequency of the oscillator. The instruction bit is programmed via an 8-bit serial logic with a configurable clock and data input pins. The instruction bit gives access to seven frequency dividers, each of which are enabled or disabled via the instruction bit to achieve the desired output frequency. The output frequency is determined by the enablement of seven frequency dividers, the enable state of each divided can be set via the instruction bit, making the output frequency highly adjustable and allowing for very precise control.The internal architecture of the SIT9005ACA2D-18DO Programmable Oscillator consists of a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), seven frequency divider stages, a power amplifier and signal processing circuitry. The signal can be directed to the output through the power amplifier, which amplifies the signal before it drives the external load capacitor. The VCO core is designed using a 2KHz-10MHz wide band, which is sufficient for the output frequencies to be programmed.ConclusionThe SIT9005ACA2D-18DO Programmable Oscillator is a versatile and cost-effective device for frequency synthesis and timing applications.
