Programmable Oscillators are oscillators that are adjustable to deliver output frequency signals of various frequencies and are usually user programmable. They are specialized versions of oscillators and have the ability to deliver repetitive signals of different frequencies from the same oscillator. The output signal can be adjusted to specific values as needed and no component changes are necessary for variation of output signal frequency. This makes Programmable Oscillators an efficient and easy choice for projects requiring multiple frequency signals and makes them a critical component for frequency generators, signal generators and frequency synthesizers.The SIT9005ACE2D-33SM is one such Programmable Oscillator consisting of a frequency control oscillator and an externally adjustable capacitance. The oscillator is based on a CMOS process technology, which ensures a low power dissipation and high phase noise performance. With a supply voltage of 5V, the SIT9005ACE2D-33SM offers a frequency range of 2.8 KHz to 33 MHz, providing a wide range of frequencies for applications such as driving digital logic, motor control, audio/video switching and frequency synthesis. The working principle of this oscillator starts with the external adjustment of the capacitance which is connected to the frequency control oscillator. This controllable capacitor changes the output frequency range and can be adjusted via an external control voltage through a low-Ohm resistance of the buffer stage. This voltage is then fed to the frequency control oscillator which uses this voltage to resolve the differential at its output and to generate a stable output frequency.This oscillator features a low supply current of 0.9mA which makes it highly efficient and economical. The oscillator also features a selectable stabilisation feature which allows the output frequency to be varied without sacrificing long term frequency stability. The SIT9005ACE2D-33SM also has an onboard temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) which helps to further enhance the frequency stability of the device.The SIT9005ACE2D-33SM have broad applicability in various fields ranging from wireless communication and consumer electronics devices to automotive and industrial applications. In consumer electronics devices, the devices can be used for audio/video switching and remote control for devices such as AV receivers and televisions. In automotive industry, the Programmable Oscillator can be used for motor control and frequency synthesis. In wireless communication, the device can be used to generate frequency signals for applications such as cordless telephones and GPS.
