Applications

SIT9005ACL1H-18NP features a frequency range from 1 to 18GHz and it utilizes a patented cold-source oscillator architecture to achieve stable and precise frequency tuning over the 18GHz range. The wide frequency range of this oscillator makes it applicable in various fields including instrumentation, narrow band communication, military, and communication.

The use of fast-switched devices makes it well-suited for synchronous optical networking (SONET/SDH) systems in both the transmission and receiving applications. It can also be used for jitter measurement, and optical communication systems such as fiber channel. Other applications include instrumentation of tunable narrow band RF/microwave filters, test systems, and wireless systems like 802.11a/b/g/n/ax, LTE, and WiMax.

Working Principle

The heart of the SIT9005ACL1H-18NP circuit is a patented cold-source oscillator architecture, which is based on applying a selectable volatage controlled oscillator (VCO) structure inside the circuit and modulating its frequency range. The oscillator\'s center frequency is determined by the voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) module and is independent of external supply voltage changes and temperature fluctuations. Built-in AC polarity protection further protects the oscillator from current or static damage due to over-voltage.

The SIT9000A series is divided into three packages. The SIT9005ACL1H-18NP is a high-performance surface mount package, with a frequency range from 1 to 18GHz. It is configured with an RF Variable Frequency Oscillator (VFO) and supports manual frequency tuning as well as external fine tuning. In addition to frequency tuning, the oscillator module also offers input voltage control for adjustment of the oscillator\'s amplitude, frequency drift and start up time.

SIT9005ACL1H-18NP uses proprietary patented technology to provide a Phase Lock Loop (PLL) based solution that substantially increases long-term frequency stability. The frequency range is wide and linear and can be finely tuned in small steps, enabling precise frequency alignment in a wide range. The PLL solution also helps reduce noise, minimize frequency drift due to temperature, power supply voltage and aging, and provide a high-Q tuning mechanism while also improving the overall VCO phase noise performance.

The SIT9005ACL1H-18NP oscillator offers an excellent long-term operational robustness and frequency stability. It also features a fast-switching, low phase noise output, allowing it to be used in demanding applications. It is easy to operate and configure and can be used to achieve precise frequency control with excellent performance.
