With the SIT9005ACR2G-18SI, synchronization and synchronization/fractional pull of output signals is possible when treating the internal PLL (Phase Lock Loop) as the reference clock. This oscillator can even function as a “double-timebase oscillator” when the internal PLL is set as two separate frequencies. The SIT9005ACR2G-18SI is highly stable and has an extremely small pull range.Applications for Programmable Oscillators are widely varied and include digital clock synchronization, frequency synthesis, phase-locked loops (PLLs), frequency control, and precision timing. The SIT9005ACR2G-18SI frequency synthesizer is widely used in set-top boxes, broadband, PC peripherals, gift playing cards, remote control, medical, AV, GPS, and other digital & video systems.The application and working principle of the SIT9005ACR2G-18SI is based on a Broadcom 44095 VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) which uses an external programmable memory in order to synthesize the internal PLL frequency. The PLL frequency can be programmed by adjusting the internal register. This oscillator also has a programmable internal PLL which is used for output frequency control. The output frequency can be clocked by a crystal oscillator, an external clock or input from the internal PLL.In order for the programmable oscillator to achieve its frequency, a low frequency AC signal is introduced into the oscillator’s circuit and a PLL is used to synthesize the high frequency resulting waveform. The high frequency waveform is then routed to the output and is ready for use. When using the oscillator to provide precision timing, the internal PLL is set to a certain frequency and the oscillator is programmed to output a waveform at that frequency.
