Working Principle of SL-108-T-10 Connectors

The SL-108-T-10 connectors are terminal-and-socket style connectors. They are installed on a printed circuit board (PCB) and are designed to match and mate with an external component. The connector consists of a housing where the male or female pins pass through. The pins are held in place by a combination of a mechanical lock and/or a friction fit. The pins are connected to the electrical components on the PCB.

When the two parts of the connector—the female part and male part—are mated, the electrical connections are established. The mated connector is secured via a self-locking mechanism, designed to ensure the two parts stay securely together until manually disengaged. The self-locking mechanism must be strong enough to resist vibrations and shock that could cause the connection to loosen, but not so tight that disconnection is difficult.

The SL-108-T-10 connectors have an insulation displacement connector (IDC) adaptability, which enables a flat conductor, such as ribbon cable, to be connected with the terminals directly, without disconnecting the insulation. Through its contact probes, the flat conductor is securely connected to the socket contacts in the connector. As each wire is inserted into its respective conductor, it is displaced outward, forming a secure connection.

SL-108-T-10 connectors are designed to meet specific requirements of various equipment, and are produced in a wide range of sizes, shapes, and options. The connector has a shrouded header that covers and protects the terminal contacts. Additionally, a slotted locking feature adds security to the connection by preventing accidental disconnection.
