The SMP-TPS61200-MVK is an evaluation board designed to rapidly evaluate the TPS61200 integrated synchronous buck converter. It features a 5A high-efficiency, low-voltage (10V to 28V) DC-DC buck converter with adjustable output voltage and a low quiescent current sleep mode for power-sensitive applications. The unique adjustable output voltage level function makes the SMP-TPS61200-MVK a suitable platform to evaluate various load variations and transformer configurations.

The SMP-TPS61200-MVK design is based on the high-performance, low-voltage TPS61200 integrated synchronous buck converter. The TPS61200 integrated synchronous buck converter consists of an integrated high-voltage P-channel MOSFET, regulated gate driver, and highly efficient synchronous rectifying Buck converter in an 8-pin SOIC package. It is designed for high efficiency applications over a wide input voltage range of 10V to 28V. The device can deliver up to 5A of output current and includes user controlled features like adjustable output voltage, power good output, sleep mode operation, and short circuit protection.

The SMP-TPS61200-MVK includes many of the features that make the TPS61200 integrated synchronous buck converter great for evaluation boards used for testing different transformer configurations and load variations. The adjustable output voltage level feature of the TPS61200 allows the output voltage to be easily adjusted from 0.8V to 1.2V in 10mV increments. This feature makes the SMP-TPS61200-MVK an ideal platform for testing different transformer configurations and load variations.

The SMP-TPS61200-MVK features a low quiescent current sleep mode that reduces power consumption in battery powered applications. This mode reduces the quiescent current draw of the TPS61200 to 1µA, allowing the board to maintain its low power consumption even in battery powered applications.
