SP3222EET-L Application Field and Working Principle
The SP3222EET-L is a single-channel, low-power, 10 Mbps (1 Mbps, 10 Mbps) RS-485/RS-422 driver/receiver designed for applications requiring power-efficient communication. This device is specifically designed to meet the needs of the automotive and industrial markets, where it can be used for in-vehicle communication, data bus signals, digital sideband signals, and industrial networking.
The SP3222EET-L is fabricated using mixed-signal technology and employs several operational amplifiers, level shifters and three sets of Schottky diodes in the form of two matched pairs of devices. It is designed to operate over a wide temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
The SP3222EET-L includes five logic inputs, RE_E, DE, RE_/DE_, RE/DE_ and RE, as well as two analog inputs, VCC and GND. RE_E and DE control the receiver enable and data enable functions, respectively. RE_/DE_ and RE/DE_ control the receiver and data enable functions respectively. Finally, RE provides input of the 10 Mbps (1 Mbps, 10 Mbps) RS-485/RS-422 signal.The device also includes three digital outputs, E , RD, and FA, which indicate the presence of the ENABLE, READY and FAULT signals, respectively. E can be programmed as an output or disable pad, used for programming the device or for reading the device status. RD is used to check for the presence of the READY signal at the input before transmission begins, while FA is used to check for the presence of the fault signal during transmission.The SP3222EET-L acts as a transceiver, acting as both a driver as well as a receiver. Its transmitter/driver includes current sources/complimentary MOSFETs, which switch to allow current to flow from the device output towards the controlling logic circuit. The receiver/transmitters include a comparator, which compares the input signal to determine the state of the signal. Both the receiver and transmitter sections feature an internal common-mode voltage reference.The SP3222EET-L is protected against electrostatic discharge (ESD) to ±1000V using HBM, and IO-level ESD protection of ±2 KV using IEC61000-4-2. It is also designed with both electrical and thermal protection, as well as an adjustable slew rate control, which helps reduce EMI/EMC emissions.In conclusion, the SP3222EET-L is an ideal solution for applications requiring low-power, high-efficiency communication over a wide temperature range.
