LED Lighting - White

The SPHWHTL3D50CE4PTPF application and working principle is based on the use of light emitting diodes, or LED’s, which are small, energy efficient, and long lasting components. LED’s produce light by the process of electron-hole recombination, and a variety of white LED’s are available including traditional phosphor based, color pumped, andorganic LED’s.

Phosphor Based LED’s

Color Pumped LED’s

Another type of white LED is the color pumped design, which uses three differently colored LEDs – blue, green and red – to generate the light that falls on the phosphor. This method creates very high energy efficient and color accurate light, but is slightly more expensive than phosphor-converted designs due to the larger component count.

Organic LEDs

Organic LEDs, or OLEDs, are a relatively new technology, which derive their white light from organic material that emits light when an electric current is passed through it. OLEDs offer significant advantages over traditional LEDs due to their slim design and capability of producing light on both sides of the device.
