SPP-6E800 are primarily designed for applications such as, in electric cars, aerospace, energy storage, medical equipment, security systems, automotive, avionics and military equipment. They provide reliable protection from various low voltage faults which could be over current, overload, short circuit or thermal. The SPP-6E800 fuse is one of the most efficient fuse solutions in the industry.

The SPP-6E800’s operating voltage is 600 V AC and below and the current range can go from 1/10 to 80 amperes. This fuse withstands temperatures between -55°C and +125°C, so it is also suitable for industrial use. The fuse is UL recognized and carries UL equivalency marking.

The working principle of the SPP-6E800 is simple. An isolation barrier divides two essential parts of the fuse. The first part is the enclosing body which contains an internal element, usually a piece of metal which is normally present in the path when no current flows. In such a situation, the energy is dissipated in form of heat from the internal element. However, when an overload current flows in the circuit, the current passing through the metal exceeds its melting point and causes the internal element to melt, thereby interrupting the circuit flow.

The melting element is the second part of the fuse and it is protected by the body. In SPP-6E800, the thermal time-delay is provided by means of a precision ceramic chip, while metallic strips render electrical connection between the body and contact pieces. It also has a device known as ‘indication tube’ which shows a visible damage in fused body.

The identification of the fuse is shown through a coloured dot which is marked as apart of its body. To be specific, the colour indicates the current rating of the fuse. This greatly helps in the speedy location of the exact fuse in the whole series of other fuses.
