Position Sensors - Angle, Linear Position Measuring covers a range of technologies used to accurately measure physical position and motion. One such technology is the SPS-A100D-HAWS (Hall Effect Angle and Width Sensing). This application is used in a variety of industrial, automotive, residential, and commercial applications including aerospace, robotics, medical, formula one racing, and experimental motor development.

The SPS-A100D-HAWS is a two-piece device consisting of a Hall effect module and an angle sensing plate. The hall effect module contains an electronic circuit board which is fed by an external power source. The angle sensing plate is an aluminum plate with one side coated with a conductive material. This allows electrical current to travel along the surface of the plate. The Hall effect module is then mounted onto the angle sensing plate and they are attached together using magnets.

When the external power source feeds the electronic circuit board, it produces a magnetic field in the vicinity of the angle sensing plate. This magnetic field causes an electrical current to flow along the conductive material on the angle sensing plate. This electrical current is then measured and converted into a digital signal which can be read and interpreted by the hall effect module and sent to an output device for use.

The SPS-A100D-HAWS can detect a change in angle up to a resolution of 0.1 degree. Its accuracy is approximately 0.2 degree and the maximum measurable angles can reach up to 180 degrees. The device can also measure the width of the conductive path on the angle sensing plate, allowing the application to determine the direction of the direction of the magnetic field and thus enabling the user to measure the angular velocity of the application.
