Rectangular Connectors - Headers, Receptacles, Female Sockets

The SQT-134-03-F-Q connector, is a three row, right angle, female socket that is widely used in electronic equipment. It is used primarily for board-to-board mating type connectors, but can also be used for cable-to-board connectors. The right angle orientation allows for space saving when attaching the female socket to PCBs, and also improves signal integrity.

Primarily, connector SQT-134-03-F-Q is available in an array of insulation colors and pin plating options, to meet various requirements such as cost, performance and compliance. The connector has an insulator material of Liquid Crystal Polymer. It is available with gold, silver, or tin pins and the contact resistance can range from 2.5 to 5 milli-ohms. Max current ranges from 3 amps and the operating temperature of which is -55° to 125°C.

Working Principle

The contact between the male and female sockets is established when the mating pins of the female socket pass through the right angle protrudes of the male pin and make contact with the female panel wall. The main process of establishing full contact goes through the following steps:

  • Screwing in the male plug into the female socket until the protrudes of its pins exceed the front panel
  • Plugging in the female socket into the board
  • Pressure is applied between the female socket and the board
  • The protrudes of the male pin starts opening up the wall of the female socket
  • The pins at the ends of the female socket are pushed against the board
  • The female socket panel wall wraps up the protrudes of the male pins and full contact is established

The basic working principle of the SQT-134-03-F-Q connector is the combination of a right angle male plug connector and a female socket. This gives the required security and contact performance, without the need for additional seals or fixing accessories.
