Common Mode Chokes
Common mode chokes, also known as electromagnetic interference (EMI) filters, are devices designed to reduce both the emission of interference from an electrical circuit and the susceptibility of the circuit to interference that impairs its operation. Working Principle
The SSHB21HS-25021 common mode choke works by introducing a specific amount of inductance in the circuit. This inductance is designed to suppress the common mode noise on the power line by acting as a high pass filter at the frequency of the noise signal, and thus blocking the frequency components that constitute the noise from entering into the line. In addition, the filter also exhibits a high differential mode impedance which attenuates any differential mode noise present in the power lines.
In the SSHB21HS-25021, the primary components of the common mode choke are two inductors in series arrangement. These two inductors are designed such that when the common mode noise is present in the line, the inductance of the choke increases significantly, thus leading to increase in common mode impedance and suppressing the interference on the line.
