LED Indication - Discrete

The SSL-LX305D4ID is a discrete LED indicator, designed for a wide variety of single channel visual indications. The part is a very low profile surface mount for board-level applications in all types of devices including telecommunications, IT, OEM, and security products. The indicator is based on surface mount technology (SMT) and encapsulated with standard flux resistant epoxy.

Application Field

The LED indicator is capable of indicating a wide variety of signaling, such as on/off, ready/alarm, and many other status requirements. It is very suitable for use in all fields where high visibility of signals is required and within limited board space. The part has a wide range of operating temperature, between -40°C to +85°C. Therefore, the SSL-LX305D4ID can be used in a wide range of hostile environmental conditions as well as in any sort of indoor/outdoor installations.

Working Principle

The LED indicator works on a basic LED principle where current flows across a junction between two pieces of semi-conducting material, resulting in a production of light. The SSL-LX305D4ID uses a standard 5mm LED, which is integrated into the PCB via a standard SMT process. The current driving the LED is limited by onboard circuitry featuring ‘focused’ design, resulting in an efficacy of > 0.1mcd/mA for the SSL-LX305D4ID.

In addition, life-cycle testing has proven that the SSL-LX305D4ID has a better than 30Khr rated life. The part has an IP rating of 67 which offers excellent protection from dust, water, oil and other contaminants and is suitable for a wide range of applications. The part is also compliant with the RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC.
