SSM-103-S-SH-002 is a type of Rectangular Connectors, including Headers, Receptacles and Female Sockets. It is a low-profile, space-saving, slim interconnect option for applications that requires high density mounting in confined spaces.

Application

The SSM-103-S-SH-002 has a 2mm centerline spacing and a 5-pointed receptacle contact. It can be terminated to either Kynar or 28 AWG stranded wire. It is suitable for a wide range of applications including consumer electronics, automotive, industrial equipment, telecom, medical equipment and computers.

Working Principle

The SSM-103-S-SH-002 is a fully-shielded, single row, male, pin header connector that provides an independent grounding point from the mating board and other circuits. It provides EMI/RFI shielding, ESD protection, and signal integrity. Its easy-to-use, compact design allows it to be mounted to boards with limited space and with minimum assembly steps. The connector features two points of electrical contact and two mating and locking points along with locking screws. The two pin contacts are in the center of the connector and the two mounting and latching points are at the ends. The pin contacts of the connector have contact surfaces with both flat and angled sides, which allows for easy insertion and excellent retention.

The connector is polarized such that the mating board is mated first onto the two latching points located on the ends of the connector. The two latching points is secured using the two screws. The header then slides in on the flat contact surface and the angled contact surface maintains a stable position when fully inserted. The feature also prevents accidental disconnection or possible accidental pin insertion.

The SSM-103-S-SH-002 is a fully shielded connector which provides maximum levels of EMI/RFI and ESD protection. It is also available in different contact counts and materials such as Kynar and 28 AWG stranded wire. This connector meets the RoHS directive, making it ideal for commercial and industrial applications.
