The SSQ-117-04-T-S-RA is a rectangular connector, belonging to the family of headers, receptacles, and female sockets. Working Principle

The underside of the shell has a pin-like structure, providing a locking mechanism.

The connector’s 16 pins are covered by removable housings, and are spring loaded so that when mated, the two contact points are pressed together. This ensures secure electrical connection between two cables and prevents signal loss. An added benefit is that the design of the pins enables them to self-align, further ensuring snug connections.
