SSQ-134-02-T-S, one type of rectangular connectors, belongs to the headers, receptacles, female sockets connectors. Headers, receptacles, female sockets are connectors that are terminated onto printed circuit board (PCB). The platform of this type of connectors is generally adopted with dual row or multiple rows pin or socket strip, with a wide application for power electronics, audio/video connectors, telecommunications, lighting, automation & medical.

Headers, receptacles, female sockets are mainly used for making an electronic connection on printed circuit boards (or PCBs). While the Header is an electrical connector with two or more pins that has one side with plastic shrouding for mating with a female socket. Plug-style headers have contacts with a length that is designed to interlock with corresponding female sockets. Plugging together with headers and sockets is a popular technology for creating electrical connections for products such as computers, medical instruments, and electronic test equipment.

Headers and sockets are available in a variety of designs and configurations. They also come in various pin and housing counts, body and contact materials, and ratings. Wiring terminals and board-mount receptacle headers are the most common types, and they are used to permanently affix a wire to the board to provide power or data connections to other board-mounted components. Board-mount headers also are widely used for creating stackable connections for add-on components such as expansion cards.

SSQ-134-02-T-S is a board-mount header designed for single row. It has a long tail and is used in securing permanent electrical connections. Screening canopies can be provided to shrouded and unshrouded versions for environmental protection in particular applications. It has a 2.00mm pitch and 15 contacts which mates with a 2.00mm pitch socket and provides reliable mating and unmating. It is suitable for many applications, such as PCB terminals for industrial equipment and appliances.

When it comes to working principles, SSQ-134-02-T-S has a reliable normal contact resistance and the contacts can be opened and closed repeatedly. It achieves contact by mounting and pressing into a female receptacle and it is secured by fastening a retaining clip, a barb lock or a compression spring outlet. Normally, a locking ramp with combination of barb lock and/or a claws locks the header in place. During locking, the male pins are pressed into their mating sockets by the locking ramp. After mounting, the contact of the header and socket is stable and has no contact resistance change due to tension of the installed position.

Besides SSQ-134-02-T-S, headers, receptacles, female sockets can consist of conventional through-hole-style or the latest surface-mount technology (SMT) for connecting ICs, and transistors. Low profile headers are also available that make possible use of more tightly spaced components on boards. There are blind-mating headers, too, whose female components are installed on one side of a board and male contacts on another.

Headers, receptacles, and female sockets are an important category of connectors, often providing the primary connection for a printed board. SSQ-134-02-T-S is a reliable, rugged and low cost connection specifically designed for industrial and other uses. It is a reliable technology and a preferred way to make electronic connections.
