Rectangular Connectors - Headers, Receptacles, Female Sockets

SSW-116-22-F-D connectors are rectangular connectors, comprised of a header and receptacle or female socket. This type of connector is primarily used within the automation and industrial control industries, but is applicable for use in a wide variety of applications.

The SSW-116-22-F-D connector has a compact design and contains gold plated contacts which positively lock the header and female socket in place. The headers are available with either two or three levels of insulation, with additional insulation available on request. The headers and receptacles or female sockets are polarized and available in 8mm, 10mm, and 12mm body versions.

Working Principle

The SSW-116-22-F-D connector works on the principle of two pins being inserted in two grooves. The pins are spring-loaded which allow them to slide into the grooves and securely lock them in place when the header is inserted into the female socket. Once the pins and grooves have been correctly aligned, the contact of the pins securely fasten the header and female socket together in a perfect fit.

The pins and grooves are designed to provide an electrical path between the header and female socket. When two of these connectors are mated together, the connection is completed by a positive electrical contact between the pins and the grooves. The pins are designed to provide secure mechanical and electrical connection without requiring exerting an excessive force.
