SSW-120-04-SM-Q is a type of rectangular connector which falls under the category of Headers, Receptacles, Female Sockets. It is a three row board positioning interface module. It is a surface mounted solution that offers superior signal integrity, EMI/RFI shielding and low profile design. The SSW-120-04-SM-Q is noted for its high-temperature up to 125°C operation as well its extremely low current leakage of 0.1@1mA, making it suitable for various applications.

The SSW-120-04-SM-Q is a sister product to the SSQ series, both offering a space saving connection solution such as internal cable connectors, board connectors and board-to-board interconnects. This connector is indexed and polarization assisted by pin guide for positive and secure mating. The pin/socket arrangement has a facing to facing distance of 15.38mm with a wall thickness. It has the same cross-section design as that of regular and SMT connectors, but with the benefits of reduced size and increased matching precision.

This board connector has a total of 120 pins arranged in three rows with 40 pins per row. It can be used for different motherboard connections such as those found in virtually all digital systems. A prime example of such an application is in providing a connection between the motherboard and the IO board of a laptop, specifically in providing power and data signals.

In terms of working principles, the SSW-120-04-SM-Q integrating the internal and external circuit of a connector signal with a purpose of transmission and processing of signals. On one side, a signal of a certain transmission medium--be it power, data or the like--is transferred through a conductor into the connector’s inner circuit and entered into the connector’s entrance. The inner conductor transconducts the signal and leads out an output signal through the exit. In this way, an internal circuit of a connector can cover the connection between the medium and the terminal.

The SSW-120-04-SM-Q also has a metal shell which provides strength and shields surrounding power and signal lines from outside interference and static discharge. This metallic shell also provides viable grounding for EMI shielding applications. The SSW-120-04-SM-Q utilizes a G·Pb-Free plating, making it compliant to strict environmental requirements and providing robust and dependable performance in a variety of industrial and military applications.
