Rectangular Connectors - Headers, Receptacles, Female Sockets refer to a type of connectors which interconnect two or more printed circuit boards (PCBs), enabling the transmission of signals and power. The SSW-140-02-T-Q-RA is a connector fabricated from ROHS compliant polyamide (UL94V-0 rated) and is sealed from environmental contaminants and dust. It is calibrated for mounting on 2.0mm and 2.54mm pitch boards, features 4 rows and is sold in two piece sets providing both male and female components.

A common feature of SSW-140-02-T-Q-RA rectangular connectors - headers, receptacles, female sockets is their ability to be designed for a wide range of applications with a wide range of contact positions. In the case of SSW-140-02-T-Q-RA, designed for a range of medium power and medium voltage applications, each contact position is formed of gold plated phosphor bronze housing with male & female flush contacts in a black zinc finish with a current ratings of up to 7A per contact and a dielectric withstanding voltage of 500Vac. Isolating barriers within each contact pair provide insulation between mating contacts to ensure a safe electrical connection.

The installation and removal of the SSW-140-02-T-Q-RA is designed to be easy. A simple one-piece design helps ensure that the 7-piece inserted parts are firmly assembled and help to minimize the disruption to confined spaces when connecting the electrical components. The simple press-fit installation also prevents the contact from being pulled out, locked firmly in place after insertion. Furthermore, the contacts are held in place by the latch latches that snap easily into the dimple of each part.

The SSW-140-02-T-Q-RA’s interlocking mating headers consist of a contact body and a faceplate. The contact bodies provide the power and signal connections and are made from a zinc alloy. The contact bodies are designed with a four-point indexing system on the board to ensure easy installation with no tools required. The faceplates, which provide greater board-to-board alignment, are made from either nickel-plated steel or black zinc alloy for added corrosion protection.

The SSW-140-02-T-Q-RA connector is also available with optional header latches for extra security. The latches act as an additional retention force to ensure a secure connection that is not easily disconnected. The latches are designed to be easily mounted onto the headers, eliminating the need for additional assembly tools and eliminating the need to thread screws onto the headers.

The SSW-140-02-T-Q-RA also has an optional grounding style for additional EMC protection. The grounding style provides an improved solution to electromagnetic noise immunity by providing an electrical connection between the connector and PCB. The SSW-140-02-T-Q-RA is UL listed and is available in RoHS & non-RoHS compliant versions with a variety of contact arrangements, colors, and seal seals.
