The SSW-141-21-S-D rectangular connector is designed for extremely reliable wire-to-board and wire-to-wire electrical connections primarily in industrial, military, avionic and space applications. It consists of several components, namely a metal shell, plugs, contacts, insert, and crimp strain relief. It also has a latch for secure mating.
The plugs used in this connector feature zinc-plated steel shells, with a minimum of 0.0005” of gold over nickel plating. With the appropriate contact and keying, this surface finish provides up to 500 insertion cycles, making it an ideal solution for environments subjected to a large number of mating cycles. The purpose of the metal shell is to provide a reliable form of EMI shielding and environmental protection. The metal shields also ensure that the mated pairs remain secure under the most severe environmental conditions.
The SSW-141-21-S-D also features special keying and coding of the plug and receps to ensure that mating is performed correctly. The headers have cut-outs in them to indicate the position of the keying and mating.
