ST3232BDR is a full-duplex transceiver designed for such serial bus applications as microprocessor systems, graphics terminals, printers, and other data communications systems. The device is designed for operation in the STbus, a three wire bi-directional asynchronous serial bus. The ST3232BDR is a fully-integrated design which includes the driver, receiver, clock and data regeneration, device control, and a 12-byte FIFO (First-in-First-out).

The ST3232BDR device supports data rates up to 16 Mbps and is optimized for low power consumption. Its power budget is typically 2.3 mA at 3.3V, making it ideal for battery-powered and low voltage applications. The device can run in either five-volt or three-volt systems, and its IO pins are tolerant of 5V signal levels.

The device includes a programmable 12-byte FIFO, which can be placed in either Rx or Tx FIFO mode.
