The ST3241EBDR is a single-chip CMOS low-power bidirectional transceiver with integrated receiver and transmitter for balanced applications such as analog electrical signals in industrial and automotive applications. Working Principle

The ST3241EBDR transceiver operates as a full-duplex transceiver/receiver system, wherein the transceiver transmits and receives data between two endpoints. Each end point consists of two power lines, one for transmitting data and the other for receiving data. The transceiver contains four differential receiver inputs, two matched two-class transmitters for generating balanced signals, and an on-chip voltage regulator for the supply voltage. The transceiver performs open-drain and 5 V interrupt interfaces and a bidirectional signaling of up to 31 Mb/s over a single pair of transceiver and receiver lines. Its noise immunity supports overvoltage, crosstalk, and EMI characteristics.

It offers adjustable timeout counters where, when disabled, they can detect the presence of a valid low-level signal on its receiver input lines, even if it is not complete at all. The ST3241EBDR provides a sleep mode where it switches off the internal voltage regulator while the receiver is kept switched on, thus further reducing power consumption. An External Bus Interface (EBI) is also included, enabling a microcontroller to read or write data from or to the transceiver\'s output.
