ST3384EBDR is a full-duplex transceiver that provides speed and reliability for low-level and long-distance signal transmissions. The ST3384EBDR includes a wide range of features such as low power consumption, low EMI, LVCMOS output drivers, high voltage operation and an improved data interface. This product is suited for applications where low voltage, low power and reliability are a must. The ST3384EBDR is an Integrated Circuit (IC) designed to provide high-speed data transfer in a variety of systems including communication networks, industrial control systems, as well as consumer electronics. It provides a complete and reliable data link between two points in a system. It is configured as a 16-bit transceiver with a separate receiver and transmit path. The transmitter path includes a protocol encoding block, while the receiver path includes a protocol decoding block. A separate voltage regulator is also provided on the IC to supply the transmitter and receiver paths.The ST3384EBDR is built on the industry-leading 0.18 µm CMOS technology to provide high performance and low power consumption. It operates within a wide supply voltage range of 1.2V to 3.3V, and is also compatible with applications requiring a asynchronous transfer interface (ATI). It supports additional functions like clock and data recovery, automatic line test mode, adaptive equalization and clock data validation. The ST3384EBDR is ideal for high-bandwidth, rugged, and long-distance applications such as automotive sensor and control networks.The ST3384EBDR transmitter includes the Enhanced Serializer and the 16-bit encoder. The Enhanced Serializer converts parallel data into serial data for transmission. It also provides a programmable preamble for spacing, as well as an acknowledge signal for each byte transferred. The 16-bit encoder creates four packet header bytes from the sixteen data bits sent from the Enhanced Serializer.The ST3384EBDR receiver includes the 16-bit Reed-Solomon decoder and the Enhanced Deserializer. The receiver state machine automatically controls the Acceptance Criteria, allowing the decoder to adjust the error threshold ranges and the error check process. The Enhanced Deserializer takes the 16 bit Reed-Solomon decoded data, reassembles it into 8-bit packets, and transfers it to the UART interface.The ST3384EBDR also includes an integrated interrupt controller to enable transparent communications. The interrupt controller continuously monitors the status of the data transmission and reception. It sends signals to the host processor to indicate data ready, data accepted and data transfer status. The interrupt controller also supports interrupt driven transmission and reception to minimize system overhead.Overall, the ST3384EBDR is an ideal solution for low-power, low-latency and reliable data communications. It provides a full-duplex data link that can easily be integrated into existing systems.
