Clock/Timing-Application Specific have become ubiquitous in many fields, from everyday electronics to military and communications systems. The STM-S3-19.44MHZ is a very versatile and reliable clock/timing-application specific module with a power rating of 19.44 MHZ and current operation of 3.3V. It operates in a wide frequency range, from 20kHz up to 19.44MHz, and is designed to tolerate load mismatch. It has low phase noise and fast output switching times. The STM-S3-19.44MHz is constructed with two active stages that provide a fully integrated solution for clock and timing applications. The first stage, a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), receives an input frequency between 20kHz and 19.4MHz and produces a single output frequency. The second stage, a prescaler, divides the output frequency from the VCO by a programmable divisor from 2 to 256. This gives a wide range of output frequencies from 100Hz to 19.4MHz in increments of 1 kHz.

The STM-S3-19.44MHz module can also be configured to operate in pulse width modulation (PWM) mode to generate a single pulse width modulated output. This mode can be used to generate a variety of pulse widths at the selected frequency. The module has a high speed output switching time of 4 ms which makes it suitable for high speed data transmission.
