The STR-A6131 is a pulse-width modulation (PWM) regulator specifically designed for applications requiring both primary and secondary side regulation. In the offline power converter, it supports a wide range of primary side regulation (PSR) architectures, such as the forward converter, half bridge, and active bridge topologies. The primary side controllers provide excellent current and voltage regulation as well as clear fault diagnosis by detecting output voltage, current, and temperature. In other words, the STR-A6131 provides excellent performance for non-isolated power converters and is especially suited for primary side regulated topologies.

The STR-A6131 is a highly integrated device capable of providing all the necessary protection for modern AC-DC Converter ICs. On primary side protection, the STR-A6131 provides over current protection (OCP) which is triggered by current sense windings detecting peak current during normal operation or leakage current from the output of the converter. It also supports over voltage protection (OVP), which is triggered when an overvoltage occurs, and thermal shutdown (TSD) which is triggered when operating temperature exceeds its limits. On secondary side protection, the STR-A6131 supports over voltage protection (OVP) and short circuit protection (SCP) which is triggered when an overvoltage or an overcurrent appears in the secondary winding.

The STR-A6131 also features a flexible and reliable PWM control logic. This logic enables the power supply to run in continuous conduction mode (CCM) or discontinuous conduction mode (DCM), allowing for a high degree of design flexibility. The PWM logic can be configured to support pulse-by-pulse current limiting and adjustable frequency operation. It also supports line voltage feeding for output power saving, allowing for significantly improved efficiency.

The STR-A6131 is built on an environmental friendly process and utilizes a highly integrated platform.
