STR-W6765, or Sanken Electric\'s STR-W6765 Integrated Switching Regulator, is categorized under Power Management and IC (PMIC). Under PMIC it belongs to AC DC converters, Offline Switchers. The working principle of STR-W6765 is based on the principle of switch-mode power conversion. It uses a switching-mode DC-to-DC converter which is operated in a pulse-width modulation (PWM) control circuit to regulate and stabilize the output voltage. The control circuits for the PWM is integrated into the IC and is capable of monitoring the output voltage and maintaining it to a certain level.
The duty cycle of the switching waveform is determined by the control circuit. This duty cycle is adjusted depending on the output voltage so that it can maintain a desired output voltage. When the output voltage is lower, the Duty cycle of the PWM will increase, and when the output voltage is higher, the Duty cycle of the PWM will decrease.
The main components of the STR-W6765 IC comprises of a high-side Power MOSFET and a low-side Power MOSFET. The high-side Power MOSFET is used to switch the main power supply and the low-side Power MOSFET is used to conduct the discharged current. The current flow is controlled by varying the duty cycle of the PWM waveform.
The STR-W6765 works by converting the input voltage to the required output voltage. Conversion efficiency is maintained by regulating the PWM duty cycle and switching speed. The IC also has protection circuits integrated into it to protect the device from over-current conditions, from overloads and from short circuit.
