The SY100EL38ZG-TR is a clock generator, Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) & Frequency Synthesizer chip designed for use within a wide range of applications. Its primary purpose is to generate a reliable clock signal as well as establish a self-contained system of phase locking & frequency synthesis.
The SY100EL38ZG-TR generates a continuous clock signal either by frequency synthesis or phase-locked loop method. Frequency Synthesis simply involves combining a number of sine waves or other signals to produce a new signal with desired characteristics. This involves calculating the parameters, such as the pulse width which characterize the signal, and then combining multiple frequency signals with appropriate oscillator filters to achieve the desired output. On the other hand, Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) is a servo control system used to extract a reference signal from an unknown or changing signal. Once the signal has been extracted, a PLL can be used to make the reference signal look exactly like the unknown signal.
