The SY4S-02F1 is a 4-pole, narrow pitch terminal block board-to-board connector system designed for the use in security system applications. It is designed to achieve robust electrical supply with minimal installation effort, and to ensure secure, reliable mechanical connections between boards.
This system consists of two parts: socket and header. The socket with two solder lines at the two end of the receptacle ensures the absolute connectivity between the two circuit boards. The header has a high and low profile, which makes it suitable for both through-hole and surface mounted applications. Moreover, the header has two adjustable positions to accomodate different circuit board thicknesses. This feature helps minimize the total component height and provides additional installation flexibility when working with boards of varying thicknesses.
The SY4S-02F1 has two working modes for the electrical connection: a high impedance mode and a low impedance mode. In high impedance mode, the current flows from the socket to the header by way of two spring contacts. When the current reaches the header, it is shielded by the PCB shielding, which keeps the circuit board’s signal traces and other components safe from interference. In the low impedance mode, a thin film of insulation is applied between the spring contacts to reduce the line impedance. This helps reduce the current losses, which can occur in the high impedance mode.
Moreover, the SY4S-02F1 provides a secure mechanical connection between the two circuit boards. The contact between the two boards is established by two high-tensile steel pins, which are inserted into the PCB before soldering. This helps ensure that the connection is stable and secure.
The SY4S-02F1 is an ideal solution for connecting two boards in security system applications, because it combines both electrical and mechanical connection features. The adjustable pin positions allow it to be used with various board thicknesses, and the spring contact system provides flexibility and reliability. Additionally, the low impedance mode reduces line losses and provides a better signal integrity.
