Tantalum-polymer capacitors are solid-electrolyte devices which usually include either sheet metal or metal foil electrodes, a dielectric layer fabricated from an organic or inorganic polymer, and a solid or sintered metal electrolyte surrounded by an epoxy-bonded solid insulation. The structure of the metal-dielectric-metal system is similar to that of aluminum electrolytic capacitors, in which the dielectric layer formed is a metal oxide. In the case of tantalum-polymer capacitors, a solid electrolyte layer is fabricated on the two electrodes, which can be very thin due to the high energy capability of the tantalum-polymer systems. The most common materials used for the dielectric layer in these capacitors is either TaOx or Polycarbonate (PC). The tantalum oxide-based dielectric film is more resistant to corrosion and thermal fatigue compared to the PC-based dielectric, but it may exhibit leakages at high temperatures as well as break down potentials.The TaN541X477M010AH8510 capacitor is a high-temperature, low-impedance, high-reliability, surface-mount device for use in battery-powered wireless communication devices and other high-reliability applications.
