The TAS5182D-CAR is a configurable Digital Audio Bridge IC, which is developed by Texas Instruments and primarily used in vehicle audio systems. The device can be used in a wide range of automotive audio systems, such as in-dash CD/DVD, USB drive, and auxiliary audio input systems. It is mainly composed of digital signal processing and audio bridges interface for servicing audio, as well as a smart audio mixer and amplifier for boosting audio signals. The integrated, fully programmable DSP on the device can be configured to provide user-selectable functions such as graphic equalizers, sound field effects, and cross-over filters. The TAS5182D-CAR provides a fully integrated audio bridge for conversion of LCPM (Low Complexity Perceptual Maximum Audio) data Streams to/from I2S/TDM data formats. An integrated 32-bit, 48 kHz RISC processor is used to manage the audio and processing functions. The processor supports both on-board and external RAM/ROM. It has builtin MP3 and WMA decode capability, in addition to Linear PCM decoding and audio source mixing.

The device is also equipped with a precision clock circuitry, ensuring synchronization of all audio streams, as well as maintaining stability during extensive audio processing operations. This provides low jitter and low phase noise when multiple audio sources are intermixed.

The TAS5182D-CAR also offers a comprehensive, high-power audio amplifier that can be operated in either Class D or Class AB mode. The amplifier has an output of up to 4 x 75 Watts, with an efficiency of up to 75%. It supports ultra-low noise, high-current outputs, and can drive standard speakers, as well as low-impedance speakers.

In addition, the device has builtin bridging capability to accept input signals from analog sources and audio peripherals, and convert them into digital output for DSP processing.
