Surge Suppression ICs are commonly used today to protect devices from spikes in current and voltage. The working principle of TBU-PL060-200-WH is based on zero-voltage switching (ZVS) using two Power MOSFETs and one controllable power diode. The two Power MOSFETs and the controllable diode are connected in series and they form a ZVS bridge-controlled switch. The transistors and diode of the ZVS bridge are controlled by the integrated control circuit. When the supply voltage rises above a certain threshold, the control circuit activates the switch and the current is diverted to the conductive junction of the diode. This process dissipates nearly all of the overvoltage energy and provides protection to the connected device.

When a surge occurs, the ZVS circuit diverts the voltage spike to the diode, which limits the voltage across the device connected to the TBU-PL060-200-WH. The IC then absorbs the excess energy from the surge and regulates the voltage of the power line, thus protecting the device. The IC also allows for adjustable clamping voltage, adjustable surge current, and adjustable rate of rise of leakage current, as well as other adjustable parameters.
