Oscillators

TC-1.8432MDE-T is the temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) of high-precision and low power. It has an operating temperature range of -30℃ to +85℃ and output frequency ranging from 5MHzto 150MHz. It has a small size and a low-power consumption power (about 200mW). It is used in GPS receivers, mainframe coprocessors, telecommunications transceivers, ISDN/ATM and wireless/mobile communication systems.

Application Field:

TC-1.8432MDE-T is mainly applied in several areas. Firstly, in the GPS satellite navigation system, it is used to generate a precise 10.2MHz reference frequency. Secondly, it is used for producing the PLL reference frequency of various types of communication machines and transceiver systems. It is also applied in the local oscillator of the terrestrial TV broadcasting system, and finally, it is applicable in the clock generation of CCD camera and photoelectric imaging device to generate exact frequency.

Working Principle:

The TC-1.8432MDE-T temperature-compensated crystal oscillators are based on the oscillation frequency of a crystal. The purpose of temperature compensation is to maintain the oscillation frequency of the crystal constant even with variation in temperature. In order to maintain the oscillation frequency of the crystal, the circuit adds a temperature sensing unit to control the current supply of the crystal. The compensation material Haseline SC-cut or AT cut crystal will be used as a temperature compensation device, the crystal oscillators will correct error caused by environmental temperature variation.

The working principle of TC-1.8432MDE-T completely depends on the crystal oscillator. It includes an LC network consisting of an inductor (L) and a capacitor (C) connected in parallel and a quartz crystal operated in series. When a small voltage is applied to the crystal through the LC series, the quartz crystal begins to vibrate, resulting in an oscillating current that alternates between positive and negative voltage. The rate of oscillation is determined by the properties of quartz crystal, as well as external factors such as temperature, voltage, and aging.

To keep the oscillating frequency stable, TC-1.8432MDE-T uses a temperature-compensation circuit to control the current applied to the crystal. The temperature sensing part of the circuit detects environmental temperature, and compares it to the set-point of the oscillating frequency to adjust the current accordingly. By using a temperature-compensated crystal oscillator, the variation in oscillation frequency is corrected in real-time, even with changes in temperature.
