Oscillators
An oscillator is a type of electronic circuit or component used to generate a signal. It creates and maintains an oscillating signal, and typically produces a sinusoidal, triangular, or square waveform. Oscillators are widely used in various electronic applications, including communication systems for encoding and decoding radio signals, television, and other forms of audio and video signals; computer systems for processing data; and electronic circuits for generating and controlling mechanical and electrical signals.
The TC-15.000MCD-T is a highly stable, temperature-compensated quartz crystal oscillator (TCXO) with a built-in temperature sensor. It is designed for applications that require an exceptionally accurate frequency reference over a wide temperature range.
Application Field
The TC-15.000MCD-T is best suited for applications requiring temperature stability. As such, it is typically used in highly precise frequency control systems, such as those used in LTE TDD base stations, WiMAX base stations, GPS modules, Automotive Electronic Control Units (ECUs), and high-precision reference frequencies. Furthermore, these oscillators are used in precision timing modules, such as those used in frequency synthesizers, phase-locked loops, and telecommunications. These oscillators also find application in radio and television broadcast systems, and scientific and medical instruments.
Working Principle
The TC-15.000MCD-T uses an external temperature sensor (PTC) to measure the ambient temperature. The external temperature sensor allows for greater accuracy and stability of the oscillator over a wide temperature range than is possible with other TCXO configurations. This is achieved by providing a constant feedback signal to a temperature compensation circuit, which adjusts the oscillation frequency to ensure the most accurate and stable frequency output.
The oscillator frequency is maintained over a very wide temperature range, typically from -40°C to +85°C. In addition, the frequency is also very stable over the long-term; the short-term stability is specified in ppb (parts per billion). The frequency accuracy is also specified in ppb, and can be as low as ±2ppb over the full temperature range.
The TC-15.000MCD-T is available in a variety of different packages, allowing it to be easily integrated into a wide range of PCB designs. All packages are RoHS-compliant and feature a low noise output that is ideal for precision applications.
The TC-15.000MCD-T is a highly accurate and stable temperature-compensated oscillator. It is an excellent choice for applications requiring precise frequency control over a wide temperature range, such as LTE TDD base stations, WiMAX base stations, GPS modules, and automotive ECUs.
