TC-18.432MDE-T Application Field and Working Principle

Oscillators are widely used in electronic devices such as computers, communications, and display equipment to generate stable, accurate clock signals. The TC-18.432MDE-T oscillator is a low-power, miniature temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO). It incorporates proven temperature compensation technology, which not only achieves overall stability of frequency, but also improves initial frequency accuracy. The TC-18.432MDE-T is widely used to provide clock signals for variety of consumer audio/video equipment including personal computers, DVD, VCD, STB, etc.

As a temperature compensated crystal oscillator, the TC-18.432MDE-T oscillator is composed of an oscillator circuit, a temperature compensation circuit, a crystal oscillator, and an external capacitor. The oscillator circuit is composed of an amplifier and a negative feedback circuit. The amplifier amplifies the difference between the input signal and the output signal of the oscillator circuit and outputs the amplified signal to the crystal oscillator, and the crystal oscillator generates a specific output frequency signal which is input into the temperature compensation circuit. The temperature compensation circuit computes the degree of change in frequency of the crystal oscillator caused by temperature using a program and adjusts the amplitude, level and balance of the signal output by the amplifier so that the output frequency of the oscillator circuit is kept at the specified frequency.

Besides frequency stability, TC-18.432MDE-T oscillator also has excellent frequency stability over the temperatures between -40℃ to +85℃, with high accuracy of ±0.05ppm center frequency, low clock jitter less than 0.5ps RMS, and low phase noise with less than -115dBc/Hz floor at a 25kHz offset.

More importantly, its small size of 3.2*2.5mm3, low power consumption, no external control signals, as well as its wide voltage operating ranges from 1.6 to 5.5V, make the TC-18.432MDE-T oscillator an ideal component for all kinds of system designs.
