Oscillators

The TC-35.328MDE-T oscillator is a high performance, temperature compensated, low power, low voltage, voltage controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO). In particular, this oscillator features low jitter of about 0.9ps, excellent temperature stabilities of 0.2ppm/°C, wide operating frequency range of 1 to 200 MHz, wide operating voltage range of 1.8 to 3.3 V and low power consumption of about 0.3 mA. The TC-35.328MDE-T is suitable for replacing traditional TCXOs that do not have a voltage or frequency control capability.

Application

The TC-35.328MDE-T provides excellent control of frequency with respect to temperature, voltage and aging. This makes it an ideal choice for a wide range of applications such as telecommunications, base stations, industrial control systems, serial data transmission, clocking circuitry, networking and medical systems. It is particularly well suited for designs where fine frequency adjustment and temperature stability is required.

Working Principle

The TC-35.328MDE-T oscillator works by generating an electrical signal from a quartz crystal. The quartz crystal works as a frequency determining element, meaning that it will generate an electrical signal of a specific frequency when an appropriate voltage is applied to it. This frequency is very stable over temperature and time and is also accurate.The frequency of the quartz crystal can be controlled by varying the applied voltage. This is achieved by using a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). The TC-35.328MDE-T employs a low-power VCO which can be adjusted over a wide range, allowing the user to fine tune the frequency for their specific application. It also includes a temperature compensation network which ensures that the output frequency remains stable over a wide temperature range.The TC-35.328MDE-T therefore provides an excellent frequency control and stability in a very small form factor. It is the perfect solution for designs which require frequency control and temperature stability over a wide range of temperature and voltage conditions.
