Oscillators
The TC-68.000MCE-T is a type of oscillators, specifically, a temperature-controlled crystal oscillator (TCXO) with a built-in temperature sensor mounted on the surface of the substrate. It is mostly used for clock synchronization in communication systems, such as clock synchronization in LTE and 3G base station systems, microwave transceiver systems, digital TV systems, military and aerospace applications, etc. The TC-68.000MCE-T\'s working principle is based on the temperature-controlled oscillator itself, where an integrated circuit (IC) combines a high frequency temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO), an active temperature compensation circuit, and often a phase frequency detector (PFD). The oscillator is basically a voltage-controlled negative feedback amplifier with the crystal forming the frequency determining element. The input voltage, generally supplied by a voltage-controlled oscillator IC (VCXO) or crystal-controlled oscillator IC (XCXO), controls the frequency of oscillation. The temperature compensation circuit is a distinct circuit followed by a temperature sensor. The sensor\'s output is typically a function of the temperature, and is used to adjust the oscillator\'s frequency over the range of temperatures that the TCXO is specified to cover. This is done by modifying the input voltage supplied to the oscillator circuit.Other functions like sine wave output stabilizing, output monitoring or a frequency-pulling feature can be integrated into the TCXO. The sine wave stabilizing circuit uses an analog filter and an amplifier to produce a low jitter sinusoidal waveform. The output monitoring circuit allows the output phase and voltage to be monitored for applications like synchronization of multiple base band systems. The frequency-pulling feature is a range of tunable frequencies called pull (or varactor) range, which allows the user to generate, for example, a 10 MHz signal from a 10.24 MHz crystal or a 5 MHz signal from a 5.12 MHz crystal, etc. In summary, the TC-68.000MCE-T is a temperature-controlled crystal oscillator (TCXO) used in communication systems where its main purpose is to provide clock signal synchronization.
