Common mode chokes are an important element for a complete electromagnetic interference (EMI) filtering. They are used to reduce the introduction of common mode noise and interference on the input of differential pairs and current loops. The TCK-070 is a miniature common mode choke with a 0.22 micro Henry inductance and low parasitic capacitance, suitable for low power applications. A common mode choke is an inductive component that provides a changing impedance to alternating common mode noise.
The TCK-070 has excellent Z-axis properties and its design is very effective at reducing common mode currents. It is especially suitable for impedance matching in power circuits, including power supplies, communication systems, and high-frequency power amplifiers. It also provides excellent protection against the introduction of common mode and radio frequency interference.
The TCK-070 includes two independent coils that provide a high impedance to common mode noise and allow differential line noise signals to pass through with minimal distortion. The two coils are wound 90 degrees out of phase, so that one coil produces a noise-reducing inductive reactance and the other produces a noise eliminating capacitive reactance. This creates an inductive/capacitive notch filter that filters out most of the alternating common mode noise.
By filtering out the noise from the input signal with the TCK-070, the current loop is then protected from the noise, limiting the noise in the output signal. This noise filtering prevents common mode interference from being transmitted to other systems, resulting in a cleaner signal. The amount of noise that the TCK-070 can reduce depends on the frequency of the noise, the position of the component, and the size of the terminal.
The TCK-070 is an effective solution for noise reduction and impedance matching, especially for low power systems. Its extraordinarily small size, high performance, and high-Q characteristics make it an ideal choice for applications where space is a consideration. This makes the TCK-070 a valuable tool in a wide variety of ‘miniaturize’ applications.
