TD-1.544MBD-T is an oscillator which serves as an oscillating system and a clock generation module. The TD-1.544MBD-T is basically a temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) which is used for critical timing applications such as in cellular phones, GPS receivers and television broadcast systems. It comprises of a crystal oscillator, a frequency discriminator circuit and temperature compensation circuit.

The frequency discriminator circuit comprises of a flip-flop, several resistors and capacitors and an amplifier. The crystal oscillator produces a signal with a frequency which is either a multiple of a single frequency or the sum of several discrete frequencies. The flip-flop in the frequency discriminator circuit is used to identify the portion of the signal that belongs to a certain frequency. For instance, if the oscillator’s output is a multiple of a single frequency, the flip-flop acts as a sorter that looks for the highest frequency present in the signal and correctly identifies the frequency.

The temperature compensation circuit constitutes of a buffer amplifier, a thermistor and a capacitor. The thermistor is used to measure the ambient temperature. The capacitor and the buffer amplifier work together to generate a voltage which is inversely proportional to the ambient temperature. This voltage is then used to regulate the frequency of the crystal oscillator. The frequency of the oscillator stays constant and does not fluctuate with temperature changes.

TD-1.544MBD-T is an excellent choice for applications that require precision timing, such as in cellular phones, GPS receivers and television broadcast systems. Its combination of precise frequency control and temperature compensation makes it ideal for these applications. It is also relatively small in size, making it easy to integrate into a circuit.
