TDA7561H Application Field and Working Principle

Audio amplifiers are important components in the audio system. It is a single-channel amplifier, meaning it has only one output channel.The TDA7561H is a bipolar integrated circuit, so it includes both NPN and PNP transistors. The chip consists of a pre-amplifier section, input decoding sections, a PWM (pulse width modulation) stage, a power amplifier section, a bias and voltage regulator section, as well as a protection circuit.The pre-amplifier takes in an incoming audio signal, amplifies it and forwards the signal to the input decoding section. The input decoding section uses logic to detect the type of input signals. Once the type of signal is detected, it is sent to the PWM stage. The PWM stage decides how much power should be delivered to the power amplifier section based on the type of signal detected. The power amplifier section contains transistors, some of them being NPN, others being PNP. These transistors are connected in a linear fashion and regulated by the bias and voltage regulator section. The transistors switch between particular levels (on- and off-states) which result in the form of the amplified signal.Finally, the power amplifier section uses the regulated signal to drive the speakers. The output of the amplifier is connected to loudspeakers though a speaker driver. The speaker driver ensures that the power delivered to the speakers matches the characteristics of the speakers.The protection circuit helps to protect the amplifier from short-circuits and overloads. The circuit monitors the input signal, the current and the output level, and compares them with a reference voltage. Once the comparator finds out a mismatch in the values, it switches off the power circuitry and hence safeguards the circuit.The TDA7561H, being an audio amplifier IC, finds its application mainly in portable audio applications.
