TEA6422 is an integrated circuit developed by STMicroelectronics in 1997, specially designed for video and audio signal switching applications. The TEA6422 belongs to the Analog Switches interface group family and its main application field is the Special Purpose. The device consists of four analog switches with common-mode control, which enable the high bandwidth, low noise and distortion required for video and audio switching applications. This IC is used in many audio and video signal switching devices such as DVD players,Audio systems, and cameras.

Working Principle:

The TEA6422 contains four high-speed analog switches, connected in a symmetrical structure, with differential inputs. The switches are connected to the input signal which is further amplified and transmitted to the output. Each of the four switches has a common gate signal (control signal), which enables or disables the switch based on the signal input. When the common-mode control voltage is low the switch is disabled, when it is high the switch is enabled. When enabled the four switches are used to amplify the signal and then output it.The differential inputs of the four switches allow for a low differential input voltage in conjunction with a high common-mode voltage for applications such as video and audio switching. The common-gate signal is used to control the active or non-active state of the switch, thus allowing the signal to pass through or be blocked.
