Working Principle

TEC 3-2415 works by accepting a combined direct current input voltage and converting it into a consistent and steady direct current output voltage. It uses an input voltage between 9V and 36V, and can convert directly from one voltage level to another voltage level by means of a switching regulator. The power supply takes the input voltage, usually from a battery or other DC source, and converts it to a different voltage output. It works by utilizing a switch-mode power supply (SMPS), where a pair of transistors is used to constantly switch the load current on and off. This creates an inductive and capacitive "playground" where the voltage and current of the input is converted into that of the output.

The output voltage of the TEC 3-2415 is regulated by switching the current on and off, a process called pulse-width modulation (PWM). The PWM process is a closed-loop control system that senses the output voltage and compares it to the desired level. When the output voltage drops, the PWM control system will increase the on-time of the switch until the voltage is increased back to the desired level. As the output voltage increases,the on-time of the switch is decreased until the voltage returns to the desired level.

At a high-level, the basic power converter circuit comprises of primary and secondary coils, an electronic switch, an output capacitor, and a PWM controller. The input voltage is applied to the primary coil and the PWM controller tell it when to switch on and off. When switched off, the input voltage is rectified to a steady DC voltage. This rectified DC voltage is stored in the output capacitor and fed onto the secondary coil, which is then inductively coupled to the output load.

The TEC 3-2415 is designed to be highly efficient, converting up to 92% of the input energy into output energy. It is also designed to be compact, with a maximum size of 3" x 3" x 0.8". It also comes with features such as over-voltage protection, short circuit protection, and thermal protection.
