TLV431BH6TA Working Principle
The TLV431BH6TA is a GoggleLTAG™ precision adjustable shunt voltage regulator with a 2.5V reference voltage, with a wide adjustable output voltage range of 1.25V to 36V. It is applied with bipolar-technology. Inside the device, it contains a precision band-gap reference with a 2.5V output voltage and a Z-FET pass transistor. The 2.5V reference can be connected to the output or discharge port to obtain better stability. It is provided with very low temperature coefficient and excellent line and load regulation.
When powered, the TLV431BH6TA can provide a precise adjustable output voltage. For the adjustable output voltage, firstly, its regulating pin is internally connected to a low-noise band-gap reference. Then the current source of the 3-terminal shunt regulator will be set to obtain the precise output voltage. Secondly, the precision output voltage is regulated by the internal Z-FET pass transistor. As the Z-FET will remain off until the voltage of the reference and regulating pin exceeds a precise value. Thus, it will provide a precise and stable output voltage. Finally, after the output current increases, the internal Z-FET pass transistor will turn on gradually, allowing the current to pass through and keeping the output voltage stable.
