The TLV5618AQD is a Data Acquisition - Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC). Its architecture is based on a 10-bit, 5-volt buffered voltage voltage output converter, featuring single supply operation and TTL compatibility. The TLV5618AQD utilizes the Extended R Cross Coupled Multi-Bit Delta Sigma (XRCMD) architecture, which combines the advantages of a Hybrid-Pair R-2R flash and Delta Sigma converter. This provides 10-bit resolutions and low power consumption from a single supply at 5 volts. With its wide range of digital control inputs and scalable low power consumption, the TLV5618AQD can accommodate a variety of applications.

The TLV5618AQD operates with a 28MHz master clock, and its output signals range from 0 to 4.98V. It has a low jitter of 500ps peak-to-peak, at a typical power consumption of only 2.3mW. The TLV5618AQD features an on-chip reference voltage generator with an auto-zero feature that reduces the drift of the VREF. Depressed-centre biasing allows the TLV5618AQD to operate at a wide variety of logic levels, so it can interoperate with a variety of logic families.

TLV5618AQD digital control inputs are the clock select, zero adjust, and the digital-to-analog converter (DAC) adjust. The peak-to-peak resolution for the DAC is adjustable from 1 LSB up to 7.066% of the full-scale output. The dc accuracy of the TLV5618AQD is +/-2LSB, and its output settle time is only 250ns at 85C.The TLV5618AQD offers digital to analog conversion from 10 to 16 bits, and its Voltage Out configuration is capable of achieving a resolution of 1LSB at 16 bits. This wide range of performance, combined with its low power operation, make the TLV5618AQD an ideal choice for a wide range of applications. It can be used in cellular phones, laptops, PDAs, portable diagnostic instruments, industrial control systems, and automotive applications.

The TLV5618AQD works in two main modes, Normal Mode and Fast Mode. In Normal Mode, the DAC adjusts the output voltage one bit at a time, according to the input from the microcontroller. The Fast Mode allows the DAC to adjust the output voltage in a single cycle. This reduces the fatigue on the microcontroller, as there is no need to continuously read to the Microcontroller.

The TLV5618AQD also offers a unique ADJUST mode, which is similar to the Fast Mode, but with the added capability of adjusting the output voltage in one step. In ADJUST mode, the DAC can adjust the output voltage in one step, then adjust the output voltage in accordance with the digital inputs to the microcontroller.
