TVS-Varistors, MOVs are widely used in power line applications which are responsible for both over voltage and over current protection. The TMOV14RP625E is a radial leaded 14 mm ceramic diskrated at 625 volts containing a moving element of zinc oxide. By connecting this type of component to the power lines, over voltage protection is ensured.

In normal conditions, the TMOV14RM625E remains in a non-conducting state with almost zero current flow. When the line voltage rises above the rating of the component, the built-in capacitance within the device causes it to become conductive resulting in a higher dissipation of power. In such situations, the MOV components reduce the risk of high voltage damages to other electronic components by acting as a voltage limiter.

The MOV device also has the capability of self-restoration.
