TSOP14240 is an infrared receiver, which is a form of optical sensor, and a type of photo detector specifically known as a remote receiver. As an optical sensor, its working principle is to sense the presence of electromagnetic (EM) radiation, normally infrared radiation, and convert it into a signal or a form of data. More specifically, a TSOP14240 is made up of a few functional blocks integrated onto a single chip.
