And its average operating voltage is 3.6 V. It has broad frequency range from 30 kHz to 56 kHz which makes TSOP18236 suitable for a wide range of operating environments. Working principle

TSOP18236 is a receiver turn-and-shoot triggered by an infrared light source. It combines a PIN photodiode and an integrated circuit that processes the signal as well as a filter for noise reduction. When it receives the modulated beam of infrared light from the transmitting device, it captured the signal and converted it into electric form. Electronic circuits process the incoming signal and transfer the signal to the IC which in turn generates a high output voltage. The two main functions of the sensor are to filter out noise and changes the signal into digital information.
